My cpu is shutting down when i run certain progs exp nero encode and burn
I got a basic sys from friend 2.8mhz intel d865gbf 256ddr400 20gb harddrive I added wd 320gb hd 512 more ram 2 dvd burners and I have a eagle 350watt power supply someone told me with all the added hardware power supply is no longer sufficient Is this true and if so what type of power supply does any1 rec?

It could be the power supply, but it could also be an overheating issue. What is your CPU temp (at idle & under load)?

If you don't have a monitoring program installed, try looking in the BIOS. Just tap the DEL key during bootup to bring up the menu, then use the arrows keys to navigate. There should be a menu choice called PC Health (or something similar)...highlite it & hit ENTER.

There is a program called Speedfan. This shows your temperatures and voltages. Try a google search Im sure you will find it.

thanks motherboard manager great for this /my prob was heat related i was running at about 200 degrees faren now im running at 102 prob solved thanx for the replies guys
