possibly bios setup problems

Just bought brand new xp 2700 and a-bit kv7 motherboard, got the 2 together and it will only run at 500mhz !! ive tried altering th bios but when i do the system then refuses to boot. tried setting the processor parameters manually but still no joy also tried updateing the bios but dosesnt change anything, tried wacking the processor in a friends motherboard but does the same thing then triedhis proessor in mine and same thing, is it possible their both broken or could it be something else ?? .... help many thanks mark brookes

Sounds to me like a FSB jumper switch is not set right. Make sure that it is set to auto if you have one. Wish I could help you out more.

You could try doing an L12 mod for the cpu. That would force the mobo to think it's either a 166 or 200 fsb. Sometimes you have to do a hard fsb setting, rather than one in the bios. Try a search for L12 mod wire trick, or go here to check it out:
