Subject: Possible to OC RAM? |
Comment: I've OCed everything inside my computer except my RAM. I've got my CPU OCed and my graphics card OCed, but not my RAM. I've heard about people able to OC the RAM. Right now I have Samsung RDRAM PC800 and I want to OC to PC1000 but I have no idea how to do it. I looked for an option in the BIOS (I have a ASUS P4T) but couldn't find anything, I think. Any hints or suggestions? Thanks!

Reply: (edit)If your bios doesn't have a setting to adjust the ram voltage, the only way you can make the ram go faster is by increasing the speed of the fsb. I assume since you have overclocked our cpu you already have your fsb at more then 100 Mhz. With my bios there is a dram speed setting where you can adjust the ratio. My 333 Mhz memmory is running at 344 Mhz.

Reply: (edit)it is possible, you just do it by adjusting the FSB like what jeff said. I, using the EXACT same board was only able to reach a stable 120Mhz FSB, from a stock 100Mhz. Since the setup is a Quad-Pumped CPU-RDRAM setup. This means that now my RDRAM is operating at 480Mhz (4x120Mhz = 480Mhz). Thats all you need to know. PS. Chances are, you already have overclock'd your RAM.
