Thanks for reading ..Im at my wits end with this lot so ANY help/advice would be great.
Ok from the start ....
I had a system running a Athlon XP 2800, and one day I turned it on and nothing, Fans turned on for a split second and then turned off again! I tested every piece of equipent and was left with the thought process of the Mobo or CPU being broke..
So I got myself another Socket A Mobo (GIGABYTE 7VT600-RZ) plugged everything back in and the same thing happened again ..fans on for a split second and then off again, So after this I thought ok it must be the CPU then... So after much begging to the missus I got myself a new Athlon XP 3200+ from Ebay, the new CPU finally arrived (had a few probs with seller) plugged everything back in and would you beleive it still Nothing !! the same thing is still happening ...
Could I be so unlucky to get another Faulty CPU ? (the 3200+)
I have tried every single other item I can PSU, Memory, Graphics Card etc and ALL of them work fine in a old pentium comp I had around. Ive checked for compatabilty probs with the new motherboard and cant find any fault there.
The only time I can manage to get some power running through the new & old motherboard is when the CPU isnt inserted fans turn on & light up etc, but of course it wont boot up like that ... so that makes me think the Mobo is ok and Ive just been unlucky enough to buy a dud CPU becuase as soon as I put it back into the mobo ..nothing as usual happens.
Thanks,
Dan.

You might want to check your power supply, that could be the problem. you mite be pulling to much power from it. get a new one...
AMD64 3800+ x2
-water Cooling-
Epox 9npa+Ultra NF4
7800GT EVGA x16
512mb x2 Patriot DDR600
Raptor 10K rpm HD

You should always troubleshoot rather than randomly replacing parts.
I agree that it sounds like a power supply problem. The fact that it worked on an old system means nothing. New systems depend on the +12v rail...old systems depend on the +5v rail.

Thanks ... I posted this question on a few forums and all reply's have been the same.
So I shall go out tommorow and purchase a new PSU, and let you guys know if it works or not.
Cheers,
Dan.
