"why is it running at 1.15 ghz ????????"

Because you have the CPU frequency set at 100MHz when it should be 133MHz. It's either a setting in the BIOS or a jumper on the motherboard.

And my guess is you don't have a 1.6GHz CPU. You probably have a 1600+ which is actually supposed to run at 1.4GHz (10.5 x 133MHz).

Try running CPU-Z & post back with the results.

BTW, Athlon XP CPUs are "performance rated". If you have a 1600+ like I suspect, it's performance is comparable to a P4 running at 1.6GHz.

"BUS SPEED 99.6MHZ LEVEL2 256 KB

RATED FSB 199.2MHZ"

Just as I said, you have the frequency (bus speed) set at 100MHz instead of 133MHz. Your board apparently underclocks slightly, that's why it's reported as 99.6MHz.

Change the bus speed to 133MHz (aka "rated FSB 266MHz") & the CPU will run at it's proper speed.

BTW, don't drop in the 1.8GHz Duron. It may be clocked higher, but it's an inferior CPU due to it's 64k L2 cache. The 256k L2 of the Athlon MP makes it a much better performing CPU, even though it's clocked 200MHz lower.

The fastest CPU you can run on that board would be an Athlon XP 2600+ T-bred. But you would have to make 100% sure to get the right one. There are several different versions of the 2600+. The one you'd need is AXDA2600DKV3C...it runs at 2.13GHz (16 x 133MHz).

I have no idea what type of RAM you're running, what the rest of your BIOS settings are, or what your CPU temp is...but at 133MHz, your CPU is running at the speed it was designed for.
