Hi there, I'm wondering if I could get some advice regarding the following 3 processors.
Which one is faster?

Intel Core2Duo 2.0GHz SSE2
VS
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X 2 Dual Core Processor 5400+
VS
Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz SSE2

I am wanting to make use of one of 3 PC's, and would like to use the fastest procesor, and add memory to it.

Thank you in advance!

You already have them listed in order from best to worst:

Core 2 Duo 2.0GHz
AMD A64 X2 5400+
Pentium 4 3.2GHz

What motherboards & RAM do you have to go with them?

core 2 is going to be better than dual core, which is by far better than the regular old p4, in my opinion, p4 should of been retired once the core 2 duo came out.

An X2 5400 (2.8GHz) will outperform a 2GHz C2D (which would be an E4400 w/ 800MHz FSB and 2MB L2).

An X2 5400+ will perform similarly to a C2D E6420 (2.13/1066/4MB).

X2 5400>>>E4400>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>P4 3.2

Why? there are a lot of business computers that are out there that don't need a Core 2 Duo. So why spend 80 dollars more on a processor that your computer will never take advantage of? Take for example comupters at a hardware store like in Lowes. Why do you need a Core 2 Duo to generate a paint scheme color for a customer? It would be a waste of money.

There was a reason why Intel has kept the Pentuim 4 around for this long until next year, because there was still a market for them.

If it's broke, then blow that sucka up!
