I have two computers, one is a Pentium 1 that has 75MHZ, and the other is a AMD 100MHZ, now not including ram or anything like that which one should run faster?

Thank You

Jesse

Your question should more aptly be, which one is slower between the two.....LOL

There is only one satisfying way to boot a computer.

saber, computers that old are all SOME people need!! if all they are doing is typing and browsing the web then those will serve fine!!

anyway to answer the question i beleive they would be about the same because the AMD K5 (i assume that is what it is) has a higher latency then P1s, in my experience...

but they are probably pretty darn close...

more important between those two comps is RAM amount...

older technology is the s---; keep it running

It is almost impossible to have a computer today that doesn't interconnect somewhere with a task that requires more processing power than what a 75MHz will deliver even if it is used primarily for word processing and internet browsing.

There is only one satisfying way to boot a computer.

I would Probably use the AMD.. Depending on the socket, I had a Socket4 AMD at 133Mhz and it was unbeleiveably slow probably slower than a 100Mhz Socket7 P1. If it is socket 4 I would probably give it a miss and go for the P1. 75Mhz P1's almost always run at 100Mhz without any problems. Good Luck.

"75Mhz P1's almost always run at 100Mhz without any problems"

yes hes right i didnt think of that...

check the motherboard of BIOS for some jumpers and CPU settings! you could set the P1 to run at 100mhz or maybe 120mhz witha good fan and heat paste...

A socket 4 motherboard was a 486 computer, mooney seems to have a socket 5. Your multi probably only goes to 2 so the best you can get with this computer will probably be 133.
Ebay would be the place for this and you should not pay more than $5.00 including shipping.

Lol, why buy the old stuff? You can get PC's for pretty cheap prices now. Cmon, even a P3 with mobo is only around $120. I can sell you my old P4 2.8GHz processor for $50 if you want.

i would like to buy that processor from you

if you wish to spend nickels and pennies, that is when you buy old stufff...

AND it is GOOD to keep "old" and "obsolete" computers and computer hardware in use rather then in the trash, as they usually end up

i for one very much encourage what he is doing

IN FACT mooneyjess1999 tell you waht i have butt load of old 100mhz and 133mhz socket 5 Pentiums laying around. send me an email with your address and i will ship you one ON ME, you wont have to pay a cent. then you can upgrade to 133mhz. i can also send you some EDO SIMMs of decent capacity so you can make it more RAM then the 8mb or 16mb that it has now
