OS: Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2
CPU/Ram: Pentium 2 - Pentium D
Model/Manufacturer: Many

Hello, I have this:

* Intel Pentium D 945 3.4GHz, (Dual Core) 4096K Socket 775
* Spire DiamondCool Socket 775 Intel P4 EXTRA QUIET HeatPipe Copper fan
* ASUS P5B-E P965, PCI Express, DDR2, Sound, 1Gb LAN, iEEE
* Mitsumi 3.5" floppy disk 1.44 Mb Black
* Corsair TWINX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz E.P.P. (C13-2022 )
* APEVIA (Aspire) X-Plorer Black, Side Window, front USB,iEEE,Temp control

Now, how do I overclock my processor from 3.4 to about 4.0 GHz?

I am new to overclocking and I am afraid that if I try, I might make a mistake and kill my CPU. Can anyone give me advice with how to overclock my system given the spects I mentioned above?

Thank You

If you have an APEVIA (Aspire) PSU, the 1st thing you should do is replace it with something decent.

Then go into the BIOS, lock the PCI-e at 100MHz, lock the PCI at 33MHz, disable any Spread Spectrum settings, raise the CPU freq from 200MHz to 235MHz, & lower the RAM freq from 400MHz to 235MHz.

Ouch!

You also seem to have a decent motherboard that could have given you more potential benefit if you had a C2D CPU .... oh well.

What do you mean by "replacing it with something decent"? Do you mean get a whole new different computer case?

Also, once I lock the PCI-e at 100MHz, lock the PCI at 33MHz, disable any Spread Spectrum settings, raise the CPU freq from 200MHz to 235MHz, & lower the RAM freq from 400MHz to 235MHz (I copied and pasted), what do I do after that? Do I just leave it set to that or do I change it back once overclocked?

APEVIA (Aspire) is not known for making quality PSUs.

"what do I do after that?"

Test for stability. If there are no probs, you're done...unless you wanna overclock even higher?

Hey, I just realized that you're the same person that's stirring up trouble in some of the other forums.
