Reply: (edit)Overclock in small steps, not in huge leaps. Set the CPU:DRAM ratio at 1:1 & increase the FSB 10MHz at a time...210, 220, 230, etc. Make sure to lock the PCI bus at 33MHz & the PCI-E bus at 100MHz. Be prepared to bump up the CPU voltage if the system becomes unstable.

Reply: (edit)ok umm i tried to do something i guess. I set the CPU FSB at 220 then windows loaded and after a minute it reseted, so i left it at 210mhz and its working fine. I didnt do any of the other things though cause i dont know how to :S. Also umm when i check in Control Panel/System it says that only one of the two processing units have increased Pentium D 2.80Ghz, 2.94Ghz

Reply: (edit)No, both cores have increased in clock speed. The first number indicates the rated clock speed; the second number indicates the actual clock speed. My Super P3: Pentium III-S 1.4GHz @ 1.58GHz, 512K L2 X800XT All-in-wonder, overclocked to 580/600. 250GB HD 2 gigs of PC2100 RAM QDI Advance 12 mobo, this baby rocks! SB Audigy 2

Reply: (edit)Sounds like these guys know what they are talking about, I mean jam and jackbomb. I could use a few pointers on OCing. I know how to do all of what is desrcibed above, but my prob is the speedstep technology in there. My CPU clocks at various speed I have a pent D 2.80, but most the time it shows 1.86. I have it set to 2846(240) in BIOS but it still shows that speed. Another prob I am having is Shutdown temp, what is the highest I can set this with out buring up the CPU? And also voltage, I find that if I make a change in BIOS my PC will boot again after changes but will not stay on once I use a intensive program, or it will only stay on for 10-30 seconds after bios changes? Besides that my PC runs fine I built it myself I am somewhat knowledgable in this stuff but still a newb. Here is what I am working with: Pentium D 2.80 Dual Core 915 LGA775 ABIT IL-8 MOBO w/ 1.5 Gig Of RAM 200 GB ATA HD nVidia 6200 LE 256mb 450w PSU (Came With Case)
