pentium 4 temp?

Hi i have a intel pentium 4 2.8c prescott cpu and was wondering what is the die temperature of this cpu?, cause when i play games the temp goes up to 68c,when its idle the temp is 40c.

68*C sounds pretty high for your CPU. I have a 2.6c, overclocked to just over 3 GHz, and mine will typically run at around 50*C after an hour or so of gaming. What kind of cooling do you have in your case? Are you using the stock HSF that came with the CPU?

You can't burn it out if that's what you're worried about. The Prescott is a real heat machine...the temps you're seeing are fairly typical

ah dude you're fine...dont worry about it. Intels can handle tons of heat. nothing is wrong, everything should be fine.

It wouldn't hurt to add an exhaust fan though. Preferable one that is larger in diameter than the intake. Your temps are within safe range as mentioned, don't sweat it.
