Comment: Is anyone saving up their money waiting to buy a Pentium 4 Dual Core processor? Now as far As I know these are the proceesors current speeds and prices. Pentium 4 820 2.80GHz 2x1MB 800MHz $241 Pentium 4 830 3.00GHz 2x1MB 800MHz $316 Pentium 4 840 3.20GHz 2x1MB 800MHz $530 To be honest the the Pentium 4 2.8GHz Dual Core processor doesn't look all that bad in price and neither does the Pentium 4 3.0GHz Dual Core processor. Now what sucks about this these processors is the current LGA 775 (915) and (925x) motherboards will not work with these Dual Cores. If you have a LGA 775 (915) or (925x) motherboard, you will have to upgrade to the next generation LGA 775 (945) and (955x) motherboards that support the Dual Core processors. I just hope AMD doesn't pull the same stunt as Intel did when the AMD 64 Dual Core processors come out or else I will be forced to dutch my 939 motherboard and upgrade to something a newer AMD motherboard. But for some reason I don't think AMD will do that considering their next chipset design isn't due out until early next year when everything will go onto the M2 socket. So I'm going to make a bold prediction that AMD 64 939 owners are safe when AMD 64 Dual Cores come out some time in the next few months or so.

Reply: (edit)Stunt or no stunt, IMHO anyone whose upgrade rationale is based on wants deserves the short end of the stick. Arguably there are professionals out that there need to have the fastest system money can buy at any given time, but for those folks time is more money. Do not type anything in this space.
