ok, so ive heard both sides of the story: theyre locked, and they cant be overclocked... while on the other hand, i see ppl saying they overclocked this bad boy over and over again :/

Now, if somebody ACTUALLY knows how i can overlock this baby, plz tell me cuz id love to do this, i got some nice fans and all that cooling stuff in, blows cold air:)

anyways its a Pentium 4 2.4 ghz processor, board model is D845WN, the clock is locked, fsb locked and multiplier is locked in BIOS.

if ANYONE knows how to override these settings, please post below :) ty

Sorry to inform you mate, but it's your mobo that's the problem. Intel brand mobos are completely locked and cannot be unlocked. The reason is that Intel makes it clear that overclocking your proc will void any warantee. Being that you cannot tell a cpu was damaged as a result of overclocking, Intel decides to completely block the option out. If you want to overclock, get a new mobo.

A different motherboard would be all you'd need. The CPU multiplier will still be locked, but most other MBs will let you adjust the FSB ("front side bus") setting. I have an AOpen MB with an Intel P4 2.6, overclocked to a little over 3 MHz. To get an idea of what's available, check out the following selection at www.newegg.com.

Don't even bother getting a mobo for your CPU. No offense, but you seem like a newb at this to me. I believe you have a socket 478 P4... Just buy a whole new mobo+cpu combo from newegg or tigerdirect.ca. It's much cheaper and faster if you get an AMD processor.
