When i turn my computer on, It sometimes beeps and wont start up, it will just sit there and beep at me. But then other times it will be great!!

I have been using computerrs a long time but have never had to deal with this before, (just lucky i guess). I looked at another pst which was about a P4 1.3 askin what sort of power to b using and it sed 250W minimum. I have a 230W power pack in my compputer, Could this have anything to do with it?

What do the beeps sound like ? example - one long, a few short, a lot of short beeps ? 230watts may be just fine for you, most of that depends on what you have in your system. But maybe your PSU is failing. I would listen to the beeps and then check the website or your manual for your motherboard to see what the beeps mean.

A PSU problem might give you these symptoms. A hot CPU would do it too.

there are 3 reasonably long beeps with about a 2 second gap in between then after that there are loads and loads ofreally quick beeping noises aswell as teh other beeps.

The P4 1.7 should be operating with a 300w PS...eliminate all other potential conflicts, determine your CPU and Chassis operating temperature via BIOS then upgrade your PS if nothing else works.
