Hey I tried to overclock my processor today, but I was a bit dissapointed. If I set the FSB x Multiplier configuration to anything higher than 266 it would go right down to something like 150 or 160. For instance if I put the FSB to 66, and the multiplier to 5, it would not goto 333, but something like 166. What am I doing wrong? Is it the voltages?
Thank you
David

David,
Go to the manufacture of you motherboard and download the manual for you motherboard and that will show you what the correct jumper settings and the fastest you will be able to clock it too. When overclocking a Pentium 233 to 300 or faster you will need to have a nice chunky heat sink on you processor. If you find that your computer starts to crash that will be caused by excesive stress on the CPU.
Good Luck!

Hi David,
I have an overclocked P233/MMX which I run using 100 MHz FSB & 2.5 multiplier (standard P233/MMX is 66 MHz FSB & 3.5 multiplier) giving 250 MHz with 50% faster motherboard access. This configuration works very well.
I figure the main bottleneck on these CPU's has to do with access to the off-chip (motherboard) cache. Using a 4X or 5X multiplier in those circumstances must be less effective even it were possible.
Good luck,
Olof

Hmm....i have a problem too figuring the jumper settings for over 233 MHz .Because my computer manual just states configuring jumpers for 233 and below ,how do i get to overclock beyond 233 ? Also , how to put the jumpers for the FSB (100)or (133)that's not stated in my manual ?

Mine is currently running at about 260 mhz... is it safe to take a P233 up to 300? I'm considering 75 * 4...

Me too... I confused to overclock my pentium 233 w/ MMX. I have overclock it to 333 MHz but my CPU crash !
