mark,

Let us know the make/model of your laptop, explain how you overclocked it, and let us know the default speed and oc speed.

This is important info to us...

spritelover102 the link was to the page of your laptop support, it will tell you about any adjustments to fsb, voltage, multiplier etcetc which may be possible.

Some Laptops wioll overclock some will not, but heat and power are big factors, the best solution is to find a way to stop the CPU throttling back under light load.

It's a 300MHz CPU...even if you were able to O/C it, how much do you think you'd gain...40-50MHz?

As for the RAM, your machine has 64MB fixed & up to 128MB can be added for a max of 192MB. That's the best you can do. That info can be found at the site link supplied by plainandsimple. If you need confirmation, find your model number here & see for yourself:

Oh my overclock--compaq presario 1200 series/started with an amd k6-2 450/ swapped that for a k6-2+ 500 which is overclocked to 600----ran this way for well over 2 years. Jumpers were used for multi and voltage, the board maxed out at 100 fsb although I never tried othe combos to see if I could exceed 100 on the bus.I know most laptops will not have jumpers but a blanket statement of all laptops cannot be overclocked is very shortsighted.
Most socket 7 cpu's used jumpers so one board could be used for a variety of cpu's.
I have overclocked older toshiba, compaq, and dell laptops over the years. Hope this helps
