OS: XP Pro SP2
CPU/Ram: XP1800/ 512ddr 266
Comment:

Just changed heatsink and fan and now it will not boot at all. I get the initial screen showing BIOS details and checking memory and one beep. The screen also says detecting drives but I cannot get into the BIOS at all. PC was working fine but nrunning hot before heatsink and fan change. Help please ?

What mobo etc,tell us your systems specs.

If all you changed was only the heatsink and fan, and the unit was running perfectly before, that's got to be your problem. Check application of thermal paste, make sure the h/sink is sitting evenly on the mountings, etc. Also while you are at it, make sure that no paste accidentally got on the CPU chipboard itself and is shorting out the contacts. I had that happen once. Reset your BIOS back to default settings.

please could you help me ?>?????????????

i have changed the processor and i turned my pc then it comes up intel p4 1.80ghz then after that comes up system ram it counts on wards from 0 to 256mb

then after that it says please enter current password if you enter wrong three times it says invaild password system halted

i have forgotten the password........'

what can i do next
