Hi. I have a Gateway desktop G6-350 with a 350mhz Pentium II processor and I need to upgrade it to 1ghz. When I put the AMD Athlon 1ghz processor in, my computer won't boot. I haven't changed the motherboard since I got it (just in case you need to know)

You're kidding, right? You can't install an AMD Athlon on a motherboard designed for the Pentium 2! I assume it's the old slot 1 style...a cartridge similar to the old Sega Genesis game cartridge? You may have been able to force the Slot A Athlon into the Slot 1 Pentium socket, but it will never work & you could have possibly damaged something....

This guy is fooling around.
A. He understands the word "upgrade". B. He knows 1ghz is faster than 350mhz. C. He knows PII and Athlon, even the spelling is correct.
Therefore, he knows PII is not Athlon. "He is fooling around" is the only conclusion.
