Hi, i recently decided upgrade my 600 mhz celeron processor to a 1.2 celeron, but after having installed it, the pc doesnt boot up. the monitor just flashed an orange light and the keyboard doesnt work. i reinstalled my 600 and everything was fine again. i searched the intel website to find some new BIOS updates to see if that could fix the problem, but i couldnt find out which type of 810e my motherboard was, and not only that, when i use eSupport BIOS agent, it says "unknown", and ive used many other apps to find it but none can tell me the BIOS. if any of you have an idea of how to make my new cpu work on this pc, please tell me. thanks.

some thing tells me your motherboard don't hold a 1.2GHz CPU, or you didn't set the jummpers on the motherboard to hold the 1.2GHz CPU.

Compaq doesnt put overclocking jumpers on there motherboards. The only jumper Compaq puts is to reset the clock. The motherboard probably can go to about 733 or 800Mhz. I personally have a Compaq Presario 5711. Now is a Celeron 466Mhz. My board can only go up to 533Mhz.

hi, I didn't have this specific problem but ran into trouble trying to get the memory upgraded with a 256 MB chip. Always got an error 164: Memory size error that doesn't disappear on rebooting.
So how did you go about getting your Presario 5000 to run 320 MB?

Help would be much appreciated

Look people, I've got a Compaq Presario 5000, standard running with an Athlon 900, which I overclocked to 1250 mhz (the maximum my apollo 133a motherboard had), needed to have an upgrade of my bios, which worked, so just get yourself an upgrade @ compaq.com by searching by SoftPaq number.
The 320 megs of ram is easy, compaq motherboards go to about 512 (every single one of them), which I am running @.
Works fine with the bios update, so just update
