Reply: (edit)Tbreds are made on a 0.13 microm process and the palaminos are 0.18 . The tbreds run alot cooler since they run on lower voltages and smaller die size

Reply: (edit)The tbreds actually run hotter. Yes, they produce less heat, but the die is something like 30% smaller which means there is 30% less surface area in contact with the heatsink which means it can't dissipate heat as well. Later

Reply: (edit)BillyBob, if you are getting high temps, I would like to suggest to you my cooling setup, but I will say it is extremely loud. Thermalright SLK800 paired with a Vantec 80mm tornado. The fan itself is 55 decibles. Very noisy, but my temps went from 45c idle 55c load to 30c idle and 33 - 35c load. And that's O/C'ed from 1.4 to 1.6 Asus A7N8X / XP1700+ / Corasair XMS Cas 2 PC2700 512DDR

Reply: (edit)Thoroughbreds, I'm not sure temperature-wise, run within 1 - 5% the same performance of the Palomino other. Not worth spending the Xtra money in my opinion, but the XP2200's and above might be a different story...

Reply: (edit)I don't know about the rest of the world, but in my part of Canada, Tbreds cost the same as palaminos of the same speed. The preformance is equal to palaminos up to 2100+. above that its only tbreds

Reply: (edit)Both CPUs cost the same. The palamino runs at 1.75v, the tbred at 1.5v The tbred does run cooler, but you need a good heatsink/fan because you have a 30% smaller die size which gives you less surface with which to dissipate heat. The tbred is a much better overclocker, and is unlocked by default with certain motherboards. The palamino needs to be physically altered to adjust the multipliers.
