Hi,

I have recently put together a new computer and am now stress testing the CPU for max temps. My P4 3.4 (Northwood) reaches 63*C at max using Prime95 - is this within acceptable limits? Idles at 40*C. I have a Zalman silent cooler to try keep system noise down ...

Thanks for any replies ...

It's common for a P4 to experience large temp swings when running prime95. Your temps are fine.

I agree with Skip, and if you normally read the articles at Intel's site they clearly state that the recommended idle temp. is 40°C.
