P4 temp

Hi guys,
I've just built a new P4 system (my first non-AMD system) and was just wondering about temps of P4 processor.
I am getting 30*C at idle which then shoots up to 49*C at load - is this about average/reasonable for a P4?
I'm using the stock heatsink on an 2.8ghz (the new 800mhz FSB/HT model).
Mine runs a bit hotter than that.. I would be happy with those settings.. at least those for my CPU temps..

Those are very good temperature. What is the room temperature? I overclocked four systems, all running a few feet from each other. P4 2A and 2.4, clocked to 2.8 to 3.12Ghz. Boards report different temps, and sometimes over +-10 C. They top out below 60C @ 22-25C room, and top out below 32C system.

A P4 cpu turns off power to compartments of the cpu that are not is use for microseconds at a time. This results in a wider idle-to-load temperature gap than you see on amd processors. The slow P4 heatsink fan exacerbates this. Your idle-to-load difference is common for a 2.8.
