I don't get it, have I got the best cpu out there? I feel like I can push this thing to maybe 3.6 or even 4.0. I am using the stock h/s and I have it in a Chenming case.
Specs
Asus P4P800-D
P4 2.6C
2 X 512 DDR OCZ @ 400Mhz
Radeon 9700 Pro
80 GB WD 8mbBTW my 3d scores are around 5,200 with no oc to the vid card.
I guess my question is are the temps reading right? I am using MBM 5.3.4.0 and the latest probe and checking the BIOS and all report about 22-27.
I have an AMD 2500 oc'd to XP 3200 with a MCX 462+ and the temps are 50 or so, but I feel the temps are more accurate on the AMD rig.
I will say this I touch the heat sink and it only feels a little warm, almost cool(P4 rig).

Lucky you.
From other forums and reviews, I remember reading the Asus P4P800 reports lower than actual temp by a few degrees, and the Abit IS7 reports a few degrees higher. Abit admits the temp is calculated, and saying a few degrees off is acceptable.
You may also have a chip that doesn't waste much energy at all. Regardless, you full load at 22-27 C with 1 ghz overclocked is too good to be true. I hope I am wrong.

something is wrong unless you are shivering as you type. But idle temps are meaningless with p4s for the same reason they are meaningless with an amd running cpuidle or vcool - there is very little electricity being used at idle. Your load temps are a function of vcore, ghz, cooler and case ambient temp and do not vary much beyond those variables.

Hi Johnoh, you are right about "shivering as you type" - referring to the 22-27C temp. But, P4 doesn't idle at low temp at all. In fact, a lucky guy might get idle in the mid 30's C at "normal room temp of 68 - 75 F).
I have never read an Intel board reviews / P4 processor reviews less than 30+C idle and less than 40+C full load using air cool.

A P4 idles at a lower temp than an equally performing amd cpu using the same cooler.
35c is low for a cpu that is 55c at full load.
Idle temps are becoming less relevant as intel keeps advancing cpu internal power management.

What are good scores for 3d03?
The temp in the house is about 19 degrees C, but the system temp is 25. Since the probe and mbm get it from the BIOS and the bios reports ~ the same then how do I really know. Also I do touch the cpu heat sink and it almost feels cold, compared to my oc'd xp 2500.
Even the chipset h/s is cold, I mean cold not even warm.
Please someone help I want to push it to 1100Mhz FSB which would give me a 3.575Ghz on stock cooling.

I admire your situation to having a nice overclocking experience.
1) System temp is 25, CPU heatsink feels cold. May we know your CPU temps?
2) When you "touch" the heatsink, is the computer off or on?
By the way, other than is minor yet excellent good problem you are facing, let us know your memory settings. Many would like to hear your secret.
