Subject: P4 1.8 OC to 2.4....
OS: Win XP Pro
CPU/Ram: 1.8@2.4 / 512
Model/Manufacturer: Custom Built
Comment:
I have a 1.8 P4 clocked at 2.4 and its running fine. But my temp has gone up a few degrees to about 110F.... was always arounf 90F... will this hurt it. I have added a case fan to the system to help keep it cooler...

CPU temps should be listed in Celsius. 110F = approx 44C & there's nothing wrong with that.

Where did you install this new case fan? All you really need is a good exhaust fan in the rear of the case.

"A single rear exhaust fan produces the best results overall. This flushes the theory of more is better right out the door."

the cpu fan runs about 2800-2900rpm... the rear case fan is right by the cpu... I ahve no idea what rpm it is as i wired it into the 12V lead from the power supply. I brought it back down to 1.8 and now its @ 80F...

I don't know much about overclocking.... Everytime I ever tryed it I'd get the BSOD... but this time its works fine.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with 44C. The P4 is thermally protected...the only thing you have to worry about is throttling & 44C is far from the trigger temp.

Explain how you're overclocking. Obviously you need to raise the FSB, but you also have to take the RAM, PCI & AGP buses into account. There are other settings that may need to be addressed as well.
