My sys config is as follows:
ASUS P4S533 Motherboard
P4 1.6 GHz Processor (Normal, not northwood)
Samsung 256MB PC-2700 DDR RAM
MSI GeForce 4 Ti4200 128MB
SBLive! 5.1Ok so here's the deal. It's currently running pretty stable at 1.94 GHz. It's running on a setting of 121/40 with a core voltage of 1.8V (cranked up from 1.75V since it crashed every now and then at that voltage).
Only problem is, if I try to overclock more, I have to increase the PCI speed over 40MHz, and inevitablely after about 3-5 minutes, no matter how much voltage i put through the core, it crashes.
One other thing. If i try to solve this over 40 taboo by moving up to the next setting with a lower PCI speed (133/33) the system won't boot citing an "improper ratio" as the cause.
If anyone knows if I have reached my limit, or if there is a way to squeeze a bit more performance out of it (I really want to see that 2GHz ;-) please let me know.

I've been reading some articles on the "old" p4's, the "newer but old" p4s (willamettes, socket 478?), and the "new" p4's (northwood). What I have found out is that your "newer but old" p4 cannot hit that sweet 2ghz+ mark without having the newer core and the additional L2 cache...
I dont know...maybe I'm wrong. You never know...
