Hello there! I was just wondering what changing the voltage setting on my motherboard from Standard to VRE would do. My mainboard is a Packard Bell MediaRunner. Also are there any other ways to get more speed from my current hardware? Thanks in advance.

try it and see what it does. i dont think many people have attempted overclocking it because you could build a complete new pc that is 5 times faster for $400 http://rpg.samuraiwar.com/page.php?x=2169592
How does that thing run now? My guess is your RAM exceeds the cache limit. Win98 would be a much better choice on an old rig like that.
Have ya popped open the case & looked over the board to see what jumpers you have available to you? If you can raise the FSB to 75mhz, you'll get a minor boost...CPU speed will be 262.5mhz (recognized as 266).

Hello again! I have opened the case, I am running the max FSB (66mhz) and the max multiplier settings (3.5x) I have tried switching the voltage jumpers but there appears to be little (if any) difference on benchmark scores. Its running stable & relatively quickly, much faster than it was when it was running the shipped Win95.
Summary: The best you can do is use a program called clockgen, but you won't get very far considering you can't lock the agp/pci bus. Other then that you can try to upgrade your processor but that's about it....
Summary: First off there's very little OC option for a P1 CPU, you vcan usually change bus speed and the bus multiplier, so. Check your motherboard and/or it's owner manual to see if there is a jumper setting...
Summary: I recently updated my bios to ver.1014 which gave me better overclocking functions. Now I can manually set my multiplier which I couldn't do before and I can also set my fsb/pci bus. I left the fsb/p...
