Okay, so I tried experimenting with ocing my pc, now I'm at the part where my pc will start up, but nothing shows up. I looked around and the common solution was to reset the cmos. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I took the battery out for longer than 30 min, shutdown, pressed the button, started it up, but it's always the same. Please help me out here.

It doesn't take 30 minutes to reset the BIOS. All you have to do is unplug the power cord, then move the ClearCMOS jumper from the normal position to the clear position, wait a few seconds, then move it back to the normal position again. Replug the power cord & boot up.

I gathered that, but when it didn't work the first few times, I went the longest amount I saw suggested. Anyway, as far I can see, the only bit related to the cmos ordeal besides the battery is a little red button on the motherboard. I tried shutting down and pressing it, but no dice.

You have to unplug the power cord. If you don't, the BIOS won't reset. Even when the system is shutdown, the motherboard is still receiving +5v standby power...this will keep the CMOS energized even if the battery is removed. If you prefer to use the battery method rather than the jumper, that's fine, but you MUST unplug the power cord.
And if you need tips on overclocking, just ask. Did you lower the RAM setting & HyperTransport before increasing the CPU frequency? If not, there's your problem. Also, the 6000+ is pretty close to being maxed out at it's default speed, so don't expect a mega-overclock.

Ah, yes I've unplugged the power cord, I've tried using the button on the motherboard in stead of the business with the battery, neither giving me any different result. Is there something else I could try?

I have no idea what button you're talking about. Most boards use a jumper. Post the make/model of your board.

Hold down the insert key while turning the computer on, hold it down until you see something on your screen.
