i have a p4 HT 2.8 ghz on an asus p4sd-la motherboard. I have upgraded the case cooling fan, power supply and added another fan. what is the best tool to overclock with? and can i do it with just a stock cpu fan? i really dont want to ruin my system but i would like to have some more performance.

You can try CpuFSB, SoftFSB or SetFSB for software overclocking, the best way to overclock your system ideally would have been from the BIOS. However you have a propietary computer (HP) with a BIOS that's usually altered to allow little or no manipulation.

The program does not hack the BIOS, frequency manipulations are done from within windows, not surprisingly, shutting off the system discards the changes made to your system.
