Just wanting to know my limitations of my ram and cpu.I have a MSI K7N2G-L with up to date bios(can go farther than 200fsb).Im pretty sure my barton is unlocked because i bought it 5/20/03 and they started locking them somewhere in week 30's.And i was able to overclock it to a 2.2 raising the fsb to 200, keeping the multiplyer at 11 and raised the vcore to 1.625 I have a volcano7+ running on 2nd fan speed and have 39c idle and 50c load. Now 1.8 to a 2.2 is good but i wont be happy until its a 2.4 , what are my overclocking limits with ddr333 2700? I have two 256 corsair xms chips running in dual channel. My power supply is a 350W and was also wondering if thats enough power for dvd & dvd burner 8 gig and 160 gig and the volcano7+ takes up a power plug so i had to split one of my 4 power plugs. All that and im overclocking the cpu. Is that a big enough power supply?

with pc2700, you're stuck...i'm surprised you can get it to 200 from 166, that's stressing it...my advice is to get the proper speed ram, if you want a stable overclock with FSB and memory running in sync

depends on the make and model of the power supply, if it's a good name brand with good reviews, then that 350 should work, but if it's a generic..you get what you pay for

Abit AS8 LGA775 2.8 Prescott
512 Corsair XMS PC3200
128 meg Radeon 9800 Pro
DUAL 36 GIG WD Raptors
DUAL 21 in. ( 19.8 viewable ) Sony Trinitrons
3+ Mbps cable connection

So what about running the cpu and memory asyncronously. The fact that i can get away with running the fsb at 200 and be stable while running farcry or doing a burn in test with 50c load for 12 hours is kinda odd if what you say is true.So if i cant raise the bus to 200 and 333 is only regulated for 166. what are my other options for oveclocking.i thought that since it was ddr333 and my 2500 is 333fsb they would match. whats the deal?I origionaly bought a stick of 256 ddr 400 but when i installed everything it would not boot the bios so i took it back to pc club and they said it was the wrong memory for the kit i bought so i got the 2700. the kit was 2500+ barton (week20:03) so its unlocked.a MSI K7N2G-L just call it K7N2G-LISR(same board no 1394 or sata)origionaly 256 ddr400 but didnt boot so they gave me 333 and a case all for 350 bucks. this was back in may 2003.ANY HELP OR DIRECTIONS?

PC2700 does match the Barton 2500+ (both 333MHz by the FSB. But if you overclock the Barton to 3200+ you raise the fsb to 400MHz. The fastest setting on all Athlons is running the ram at the same speed as the FSB. So by running the Barton at 3200+ speeds you need PC3200 ram (400MHz). I ran 256MB of PC2700 at 400MHz 100% stable on my NF7-S tell I upgraded to 512MB PC3200 ram. It just depends on the quality of the ram.

So running the ram at 200fsb wont kill it?does it just bottleneck if i leave it at 200fsb?i realy liked that 2.2ghz speed. When i encode a dvd movie it usualy took between 6 to 8 hours depending on if it was an hour and a half or close to 2 hours at 1.84ghz but when i oc'd it to a 2.2 it encoded the same movie a little over 4 hours and didnt have the audio video sync problems i had before. And far cry ran way faster with no hickups or chopiness in movement.I origionaly had 3200 with this kit but when i put it all together it wouldnt boot the bio's or anything so i took it back and they said it was the wrong ram for the kit and they gave me 2700. PC club was where i bought it $350 for 2500/MSI k7n2g/256 2700/case with 350w psu

it's easier to just get the pc3200..simply set your fsb and multi to 200 x 11 with a 1:1 fsb:ram ratio and you're good to go...i always suggest to run in sync

what are you using to encode dvd's?

Abit AS8 LGA775 2.8 Prescott
512 Corsair XMS PC3200
128 meg Radeon 9800 Pro
DUAL 36 GIG WD Raptors
DUAL 21 in. ( 19.8 viewable ) Sony Trinitrons
3+ Mbps cable connection

im using a program that came with my pioneer A05 -r/rw. its called Showbiz and its made by arcsoft.I was talking about making dvd's out of downloaded movies that are svcd mpg's.Its the only program i have found that will fit both parts on a dvd.All the others i have tried fill the entire dvd with one part.So yeah i wasnt talking about copying dvd's, was talking about making(encoding)dvd's out of mpg svcd movie files.
