When I try to overclock using clockgen it crashes when I apply changes. When rebooted the changes are not in effect. Why? Also, can I do it through my bios, finally, should I buy another motherboard?

Is your board an ECS nForce4M-A? If so, why the heck are you using ClockGen? ClockGen is for boards that don't have an overclockable BIOS. And although the BIOS on that board is somewhat crippled, you should still be able to overclock your CPU a fair amount. Do you even know how to overclock?

Lock the PCI-e at 100MHz, lower the HT frequency from 5x to 4x, disable ALL Spread Spectrum settings, lower the RAM setting from DDR800 (or auto) to DDR667, raise the CPU frequency a little at a time & test for stability after each change...try to get it up to 250MHz. Be prepared to raise the CPU voltage.
