Hey I was just wanting some opinions. I have a intel p4 2.8c(northwood core) and asus p4p-800-e deluxe mb and some corsair vs ddr 400 ram. I managed to oc to 3.1ghz. That being a 222fsb I have the necessary cooling. Zalman 7000A heat sink and aproximately 6 case fans in a gamming type case. So my question is, If I purchased some ocing memmory ocz(life time warranty from my understanding) I'm thinking I can go alot higher. But is it worth it in the long run. I just am scared my computer might die in a couple of years. The only thing holding me back ins the ram. I achieved over 3.6 and temps were good by setting a divider for ram.(just to test it) Whats your opinions? Get some more ram and oc higher or just stay where im at. It performs well as is.
Thanks

the cost of the RAM isn't justifiable

I went for really expensive OCZ so I could oveclock at 1:1...it's not worth the cost of the ram....

Using a ram divider on an intel cpu isn't bad. The performance hit is less than what it would have been on a AMD. Whereas AMD is best run at 1:1, intel cpu's are better run with dividers (if you can't run 1:1) since you get a bigger fsb and thus better performance

I can set a devider pretty easy for instance...I can go up to 3.5 easy and set a devider of 320 and it runs my ram at default speeds. I have taken it all the way up to 3.78 and its very stable. I Just have been told its such a bottleneck and performance killer. So I went back down to 3.1mhz and with a 1:1 ratio. Don't think I really notice a different from 3.5 to 3.1 seems to be about the same. So I guess whats your advice? To leave as is or use the divider?
