The following questions listed in 2003 here that won’t get you any farther than where you are at.

1) I have a XP2600. How do I make it faster?
2) I overclocked my XP2100 to XP2800, but it does not seem any faster. Why?
3) If I overclock my processor, would I fry it, or would it be short lived?
4) Tell me how to overclock.
5) What is overclock?
6) I want to overclock my XP1800 to, say over 3200+, but I don’t want increase vcore. How should I proceed?
7) How do I overclock Dell, HP?
8) I want to make my Intel 166mhz run faster, how?
9) I have a PIII 700 laptop, how do I overclock it?
10) I overclocked my XP1700+ to 2.1 Ghz running at 30 C tops. How do I get it to run cooler?
11) I have a stock Heatsink and without overclocking, my XP2100 cpu is running 75 C idle and 90 C playing games. Is this normal?
12) When I ask the same question over and over, I ought to have an answer that I want to hear.

Merry Christmas to you all. I know we'll be reading more or less similar next year + more on Prescott and AMD 64.

Hey, I used to regularly O/C the p166mmx...many would run at 233...that's what got me hooked!

real_cool,

I've sensed your frustration lately...lol! I know it gets to be a real pain reading the same questions over & over...especially when many of them could be answered simply by reading the manual. Unfortunately, that's the way it is & we're not gonna be able to change it. We either have to ignore those types of posts, or have some fun with them...it's seems that lately, you've been doing the latter...lol!

Happy holidays to you & all the other "regulars" out there...& eveyone else for that matter!

i see a lot of people giving advice to just jumping right into raising the fsb to like 200 in one jump...people need to do some research on the net before even attempting to overclock, there's quite a few other factors to be considered in doing so

No, I am not frustrated. But, learning must come from the student, not the teacher. A good teacher understands the needs to point the direction, not to do their home work.

For this forum to excel, we the supporters must take the lead so that we all could learn together by working hard and doing our homeworks.

Hey, I love #12.

What may need to be changed is the forum format. I bet most people coming here are newbies to OC and even newbies to a forum like this. They don't or don't know how to look at old threads to find answers for their questions. So I think if the threads are automaticall put in the front every time they get updated, it may reduce the repeating questions. The search engine should be better too. A mandatory list of system components would be nice too when posting a new thread.

Well, we all started as newbies and in some areas we still are. Some questions just remind me how I was when I started, that just put a smile on my face.

I think a lot of the regulars have been getting very frustrated lately, a lot have either almost or completely disapeared. I think that silly and repetative questions are a fact of life in a forum like this. It does get a bit irritating when people ask questions that have already been answered here or can easily be found using google, I think many are simply too lazy. Skip pointed out to me a while ago that if you don't like a question simply don't reply, but I like jams approach better, have some fun.
