Hiya, I want to overclock my system but am a complete newbie to this. How can I overclock my P4 2.4 Ghz cpu with 2x 512 Dual Channel DDR on my Asus P4P800 Motherboard using the standard cooling?
Okay, I overclocked P4N (Northwood) Pentium 4C 130nm 1.6-3.4GHz 1.475-1.575V Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.40GHz to external clock 260 yielding a 3.1 Ghz. the temperature using prime95 gets to 60 degrees celcius after a few minutes. What is the max temperature I should have?

It depends on case ventilation and your processor.
2.4C, 1.70 Volt,270FSB, IC7 Primestable over 3 hours at 22C room temp; Idle 38C and Load 56C with Intel Stock HSF.
Your Stress program will either crash or lock-up; worry about too high vcore and not to worry about CPU temp because they are all inaccurate.
