Hi everyone. I have a Asus Geforce FX 5200 graphics card. The engine clock at default is 250mhz, and the memory clock is 330mhz at default.

I have downloaded Powerstrip, which lets me overclock both settings. I would just like to know how much I can overclock it safely? I have never done this before so I am not sure. Would 50mhz each be too much?

Thanks for all your help. Josh.

up by 5mhz at a time and test it with 3dmark 2001 or 2003 to see if you get any weired color or box on the screen..if you do..then you need to lower down the core/memory frequency.

i don't recommand you overclock ur geforce fx5200..sorry to say this but no matter how much you overclocked it..the performance most likely will be the same, not that much gain

My GeForce FX is a bit different then what your guys's sound like, Mine is a Gainward GeForce FX 5200 128mb, core clock 250 and the memory clock (default) 400. I only use stock heatsink which doesn't even have a cooling fan on it! this card is SOOO overclockable I love it! it overclocks to 295mhz core (been as high as 310mhz!) and the memory clock overclocks to 555 mhz (been as high as 575!) Again I'll remind you I only use stock cooling, and this isn't the FX 5200 ultra... it's just the regular :) but I don't recommend overclocking to that extreem... I only overclocked in increments of 5mhz also, until the card started freezeing on 3Dmark01. Even though my card overclocks as high as it does, I've only been able to score an 8075 on my 3Dmark01 benchmarks. I score a 1820 on 3Dmark03 as well (TI4600 scores 1500-1600). now it makes sence why the card was $100 brand new! lol! I run my benchmarks on my 2450mhz Pentium 4 (my pride and joy!) with 1gb of DDR pc2100.
