hello all, I have a pc with an ECS L7S7A2 mother board, AMD Athlon 2800+, and 512 ddr 400. http://www.ecs.com.tw/products/pd_spec.asp?product_id=267
The motherboard specs say that by overclocking it can support 333 mhz fsb, and ddr 400. BUT, it doesnt tell you how to do it. On the motherboard the jumpers for the cpu ratio are set to auto. I can change the Mhz for the cpu in bios, but the highest is 200 mhz. The highest I can push it up to is 166 mhz. but the system will automatically restart after about 10-20 minutes. I guess my question is, how do i set the motherboard to where i'm getting support for my cpu and ram. And why does my system keep restarting, is the cpu overheating?

Clarification question - are you saying the system restarts at default settings but is stable at some lower settings? If so what are the settings it works at?

you can use speedfan to watch your temps, which will tell you if its overheating.

the system restarts when i have the cpu and ram set to 166 or higher. Default settings sets my proc. and ram to 133 mhz. and that works fine accept my athlon 2800 will only work at 1.6 ghz (so i'm basically not getting full potential from my proc.). I raised it to 166 last night (again), except this time i changed the cpu vcore and it seemed to work better, but the problem is the overheating. is there a good heatsink+fan i can buy that will keep my athlon cooler than the factory one is? And what is a good temp that the cpu should be at, and what is a borderline temp?

I'd repost here...

you won't lock up due to temps until you are over 60C, maybe even over 70C.

Even with the stock cooler you should be under 50C.
