i want to oc my cpu but i dont know how.... ive already went to the pcstats website and read all of how to oc a cpu and videocard also i read about the latency and bios guides....im still a noob but i understand it a little more....its just that my computer is old....i dont know how old but its a compaq presario 5310US....if anyone could help me out that would be great.... my msn is tommies_@hotmail.com if anyone would like to add me on and help me out.... here are a few things about my computer.... i used aida32 to get this info on my computer....

compaq and other computer manfactures lock the BIOS functions for OC you will have to use programs to OC which probably wont work with your motherboard anyhow its a bit of a dead end!!

As stated above, you're not gonna be able to overclock without the use of software.

HP/Compaq deliberately uses a crippled BIOS to prevent too much tampering...this cuts down on tech support calls from idiots who would crank their settings too high & then make their system unbootable.

Your system is old, it uses a weak Celeron CPU, PC133 RAM, & onboard graphics. Even with the O/C software, the max safe FSB increase would be 112MHz because anything higher will throw the PCI/AGP bus too far out of spec. That would increase your CPU speed from 1200MHz to 1344MHz, which I doubt would be noticeable.

Your board does have an AGP slot so if you're using the onboard video & the reason you wanna overclock is to improve gaming, you'd be better off installing an AGP video card. That would not only improve your video, but would return the "shared RAM" back to the system.
