right now the thing is only running @ 1.4GH....it was the defalt when i put it in..
to me that does not make a bit of sense...
my M/B is a A7V8X-mX not a bad board.lol
when i go into my bios it does not let me play with the clock speed, just the FSB crap.
on the dip swiches it is set to manual i do think. should it be set to auto?
please help.....

The "FSB crap" could be what needs adjustment...using that & the multiplier is how you adjust the clock speed. I don't know what other settings you expected to find?
Your CPU should be clocked at 2000mhz by default...15 x 133mhz/266FSB. Either set your DIP switches to auto, or the multiplier to 15x & the FSB to 133mhz (266).
If you wanna overclock, set the multiplier to 12x & FSB to 166mhz (333)...that'll keep your speed at 2000mhz, but you'll get a boost from the higher FSB.

by the looks of it, the switches are set to 133.33mhz from what the user manual says it should be. but you say something about the multiplier? thats supposed to be in the bios right? if i remember correctly i cant play with the settings in that area. the are all grayed out.... but why is the CPU only running @ 1400mhz? my next Q. is if i do change the dip settings to the 166.67mhz and turn it on, but then it shuts off and turns on and off and so forth, what would that mean?
thanks 4 helping

well i thought i had a 2400+....lol i set my dip settings to 166mhz and the bios to 166 and now it says i have a 2500+ running @ 1.8mhz cool.... but back to the overclocking part, in my bios the only thing i can change is my DRAM clock wich is set @ 166. there is no place in my bios that i can set the multiplier to change the speed.....
is there a windows program that i can use to take the place of the bios...
