Hey i have a Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG and when i go into the >SeePU Setup and change the stuff around like the CPU/SDRAM/Something else i can get my celeron 700 running at 840mhz. the only downside is windows sais there is no soundcard, and i definitely do have a soundcard and i would die without it. im a newbie to the concept of overclocking so i really value your ideas. If you need more info just say what you need and ill post it. thanx in advance.

if your motherboard doesnt have asyncronus pci, the pci bus gets to high and then things that cant handle high pci busses dont work. like my tx97-xe motherboard, at 83mhz fsb sisoftware sandra tells me the pci bus is 41MHz when it is sopposed to be 33. so pci network cards cannot work, so i just use an isa card. but 66mhz is the default fsb, but who cares because i am overclocking it. so if you increase the fsb, the pci will get higher. to check the rate, just use sisoft sandra pro and select the mainboard information.

sorry i forgot to mention that my soundcard is on-board. i have an intel 815 chipset so basically everything is on-board except for lan. but i can see where you are heading with that asyncronous pci so i will reboot and give that a go. being a novice itll only unlock more info. if i cant do anything i might be able to scab a cheap second-hand pci soundcard for $80 and changing the setting might make it work. Thanx again.

your mobo probably does not have a pci/agp lock...default, the pci bus runs at 33 and agp bus runs at 66 and when you overclock past a certain point, you will run into problems...i think if you go past 38 mhz on the pci bus, you will experience problems and if i'm not mistaken, your hard drive is on the pci bus and you can get data corruption
