overclocking laptop graphics

I just got this laptop from newegg a couple of days ago. It has a Geforce 8600m gt DDR2 graphics card and i was attempting to overclock it with rivaturner. I raised up the frequency a bit but when i close out of the program it sets back to default settings. Then i tried to use Ntune, and it does the same thing. Why does this happen??
