I can't seem to find any info on how to unlock the clock speed of my comp. I got the computer as a package and I didn't get a manual with it. I've checked the net for a manual and found nothing. I also went to my supplier and they don't seem to have a manual for it either :( my system specs are:

Intel D845WN
Pentium 1.4 GHZ
512 SDRAM
Geforce4 TI 4200

My computer runs incredibly cool right now and I think I could juice up my processor to 1.8 to 2.0 GHZ without any problems. The reason why I want to up the cpu speed is because of the video card I just bought. My processor isn't fast enough to really see any noticeable improvents with the vid card. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can offer.

You may have trouble trying to overclock with an Intel MOBO.

I know it can be done, I just have no clue how. I've read on some sites about people bragging how high a clock speed they got with this exact motherboard. any insite or links to some sites would be very much appreciated.

Thanks, Collin

intel locks its multiplier. i don't know where you heard about overclocking with an intel motherboard. they certainly didn't do it with any software or bios...intel is totally against overclocking, so their motherboards won't let you overclock. unless you find someone to hack the bios, and then you flash your bios with the hacked version.

only way to overclock would be hardware wise...ie: bridging gaps or bumping up the voltage somehow. I don't know the ways of overclocking it via hardware...but software/bios, it's impossible

i have a d850mvl..p4 1.7 ghz...i'd overclock this computer if it's possible...but it's not

What I read was that you needed to crack the casing of the chip and change the multiplyer jumper located inside. But I would never attempt something like this without any verification. The idea of vandalising my chip seems incredibly foolish. My main reason for making my initial post was to see if anyone here had ever accomplished or attempted this feet. It would seem nobody here ever has. Oh well. Wait a few years to upgrade and buy myself a sweet MOBO.
