Does anybody know how to overclock an intel 915 motherboard. It does not support user defined settings and all the software I've found only supports 800 series motherboards

Intel motherboards made by intel are bad overclocking motherboards. Intel pretty much doesn't give you anything to overclock with when it comes to overclocking on their lineup of motherboards. The 925x series gives you more room to overclock then the 915 series, but not nearly as much as a 3rd party intel motherboard.
