overclocking Athlon XP 3000+

Hey I was wondering how I could over clock my processor. I just bought a brand new power supply and Zalman cooling heatsink and fan so power and heat should not be an issue?
Thanks for any help, Mike

Power won't be an issue as long as your PSU is of decent quality, is at least 400W & has no less than 16A (18A or more is recommended) on the +12v rail.
Your multiplier is locked, so all you can do is try bumping up the FSB a little at a time. Your RAM should run at the same bus speed as the CPU, so hopefully you have at least PC3200. Make sure to lock the PCI/AGP at 33/66MHz.

I can't make a suggestion...it's "trial & error". You're at the mercy of your CPU & RAM. Lock the PCI/AGP so that they don't overclock along with the FSB, then start increasing the FSB setting 5MHz at a time. After each change, test your system for stability...if all is well, add another 5MHz & test it again. Hopefully you know how to recover if your system becomes unbootable?

"Is it worth it" My first response would be "NO!". Overclocking reduces ur CPU lifespan, and unless you want the extra performance for something specific, other than just for the hell of it, then it is not worth it.
Summary: Just wondering who here has done it, and what kind of results did you get? I'm thinking of overclocking, but I think all 3000+ came locked...Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.. AMD Athlon XP 3000...
