Comment:

I have a Abit KX7-333R motherboard and an athlon XP 2100+. I tried to overlclock the cpu by changing the FSB speed. I got it to run at 1900 MHz, but when my computer booted up it crashed onced it got to the windows load screen. So what do you think I need to do? Someone told me that I need to increase the voltage....but I'm new to the overclocking thing so I don't want to blow my computer up.

P.S. I have a Cooler Master HHC-001 fan

ya most of the 2100+ A core athlon's can only overclock to like 1.9ghz if you had got a B core 2100+ (like mine) you could hit 2.3ghz on 1.8 vcore mine maxed out at 2.63ghz with 1.95 vcore rock stable.

I don't know squat about water cooling, but I know water freezes at 32F...how do you get your's to -4F? or was that a typo?

thers a pelter that is on the cpu then there is a water block that takes the heat form the pelter. on one side of the pelter its really cold and the other side of the pelter is really hot so your use water to cool the pelter not the cpu .

That's a great oc Matt. You have a nice rig and happened to get a good cpu to boot.

Jabari every cpu is different. If you just got that cpu then it should overclock better even at stock voltage, but its no guarantee. Those letters and numbers under AMD ATHLON in this pic

tell the story of how oc'able your cpu is. If you want to post yours, Matt or I or someone else can decipher them for you.

johnoh, the 2100+ that Jabari has is an A core most A cores only overclock by like 200mhz.

I'm aware of the A core's limitations, but I don't see any reason to conclude that he has one. Too little data yet.

I could not read out what the numbers and letters said on the core because it has some grease on it and the letter and numbers were really small. Though I went to my bios and checked my CPU voltage and this is what it displayed

Core 1.750v
I/O voltage 3.50v
DDR voltage 2.55v

Hey I finally got the numbers and letters

AX2100DMT3C
AG0IA 0213TP2W
Y8057820134

I'm not sure if those "O's" are really "O's" or if they are zeros. But i just assumed they were zeros.

what shouldnt it look like
AXDA2400DKV3C 9491276270022
AIUHB0246TPGW

all i can see there is that its an A core by AG0IA the last letter tells if its an A or B core.
0213TP2W the 02 means it was made in year 2002 and the 13 mean it was made the 13th week so you cpu was made in 2002 on the 13th week.
Y8057820134 are you shure the numbers are right?
but the last 4 numbers is the number that it was made like yours was the 134th cpu in that batch to be made.

Thats not a tbred its a palomino since the vcore is defaulting to 1.75v.

This page will show the rest. To get it to ID your cpu just type in your nums. Your first and third nums are fine but in your line 2 you need to have no space, the zero after AG should be the letter O, and I think the 2 after TP may be a typo.

Well...since it's an A core, I can only overclock it to 1900Mhz? When I overclocked it to 1900Mhz last time my system crasehd while booting up so does that mean I need to up my voltage on the CPU?

it's a pallomino jabari, looks like an 'agoia y' stepping, same as is found on the very overclockable a few months back before the tbreds came out xp1600's, they used to clock to xp2200 speeds and behond.

your xp2100 pally seems to be a VERY good clocker for what it is. what is the voltage currently at?

So you got a 10% palomino oc at stock voltage. That's not bad.

btw tbred 2100s start their OPN with "axda2100" and palominos with "ax2100". That's another way we know you've got a palomino.
