I have an asus p4p800-e deluxe motherboard, intel 2.8c processor and some 3200 corsair valueselect memmory. (not the best overclocking memmory from what I heard) From my understanding this memmory is rated at 200mhz. I don't have heat spreaders right, so im not really wanting to overclock the memmory but im wanting to get the processor up to about 3.36ghz which i can do using ai overclocking(20%)but, this seems to overclock my memmory a little to much to my lacking because of the fsb being so high 1040(mihgt have been 960 can't really remember) I believe it was. So I set a divider of 320, but now my memmory is no longer recongized as 3200 but 3100(which i don't believe there is such a thing)because its slowing it down to much and is running at 176mhz. Basicly I was wondering how i can get the ram to be recongized as 3200 without overclocking it all crazy i was wanting to keep it at the default, just overclock the processor (using the fsb deal) btw I got the biso update that unclocks the cpu multiplier so if theres another way to over clock let me know but I been ocing by slowly raising the fsb. Hope you guys know what im talking about sorry im a newbee. Oh and btw what umm settings should I use for the corsair value select 3200 ram and that spd setting is enable in the bios I have a good zalman heat sink and 7 case fans (gamming case) How HIgh is to high on the fsb and also how high is to high on ram itself? Sorry im a newbee. Thanks everybody! Maddog23

first of all, you need better higher quality memory...like corsair xms, geil, ocz, etc....i have 512 megs of corsair xms pc3200 and after testing for stability, i was able to get it to do 225 ( DDR450 ) and my FSB is in sync at 225 also, getting me an OC of 3.15 GHZ ( 900 mhz FSB ) from my 2.8 prescott

there's overclocking forums out there that you need to research overclocking first before jumping right into it....

Abit AS8 LGA775 2.8 Prescott
2 x 512 OCZ Platinum PC3200 dual channel
128 meg Radeon 9800 Pro
DUAL 36 GIG WD Raptors Raid 0
DUAL 21 in. 19.8 viewable Sony Trinitrons
3+ Mbps cable con

Go into the Bios and change the latency settings to higher numbers. If possible you can also try to raise the ram voltage slightly.
The first raises the time between each memory writing or reading so it has more time to reach correct settings. The voltage on the other hand allows the ram to reach the switch level between 0 and 1 faster but also makes it a bit hotter.

Im just worried about it running to hot I guess is my main concern and I have researched this on different forums just am getting a few opinions. In other words how can i tell if the rams getting to hot(i montior my mb and cpu temps)

I wouldn't worry about overheating the RAM, & I suggest that you DON'T waste your money on RAMsinks. As long as your case is adequately ventilated, you should be fine

Asus A7N8X-X
1800+ @8x210mhz
512mb PC3200
Ti4200/8X 128mb
WDC 60GB
