Overclocking an AMD Athlon XP 1800+

I have an AMD athlon XP 1800+ and I would like to overclock it. I increased the FSB from 133 to 140 and the Vcore voltage to +5% and now my CPU is recognized as an 1900+. but this is the uper limit! when I try to increase more the FSB, my PC stacks will I reboot it and so i have to decrease it again. I reasd sth about unlooking the proccessor! Who i can do that? is it easy and "safe"? thanks

Unlocking a processor. Perfectly safe, if you know what to do. As for easy, no no no. I did it, takes about 4 hours if you have a multimeter, probably longer if you don't unless you have mad luck. Anyway, look up an Athlon XP unlock guide on google.com or something, they can explain the process better than I can, because they have pictures.

i also have an AMD XP 1800+ i was able to over clock it and it reads as a XP 2000+ with the defualt voltage it would crash, i bumped up the voltage to 1.8v and seems to run just fine
