Hello, Its been two years since I ever got my first computer. Since then ive made it one of my top hobby objectives to learn evrything on computers and how they work. Two years later with the knowlege aquirred form the net,books, and computing.net ive managed to build my first computer and got rid of my horrible compaq persario. Anyways to make a long story short I see alot of people posting questions on overclocking. I want to take the next step and start overclocking myslef. I have a Amd Athlon Xp 2400+ T-breed 266fsb and 256 L2 cahce. I also plan to get the Asus A7N8X-X AMD nForce2 400 SocketA motherbaord and maybee a good heatsink for about 30 bucks. I have a pretty good case with two case fans, a 400 watt powersupply, and 512ddr pc2100 installed. What would be the proper techniques and procedures needed to overclock my processor. Now I know this is were you ask me -> What do you want to OC it too? Well im not sure I would like to get it to run like a Amd Athlon Xp 2600+ or 2800+ whichever is the safest. From what I read OC reduces the life of your cpu etc. I thank you in advanced. If there is anyother information required to answer this question post a message about it.

U shoulda spent the extra cash on a xp2500. Anyways..your ram (PC2100) is gonna be a bottleneck if you wanna up ur FSB. U might wanna consider getting some PC2700 or preferably pc3200 ram (or higher).
