I have an ECS K7S6A rev1.0 motherboard, and I'd like to overclock it by FSB. I currently have the default settings of 133/133/33 (fsb, memory,PCI), multiplier x15,Vcore 1.64 volts.. What is the best I can expect of this system?? I once tried to set the clock to 150/150/30 to get 2250MHz but it didn't boot, and I had to clear cmos. I'm new on this stuff and I need help please :-)

Can you adjust in increments...133, 134, 135, etc? or are there only choices like you have listed (i.e. 150/150/30)? 30MHz for the PCI is an odd one...I would think it'd be 38Mhz?

If the board allows it, you'll have to increase the vcore to stabilize the overclock. If there's no provision in the BIOS to do that, you'd have to do a wire mod.

I'd guess somewhere around 142Mhz...maybe a little less. If 142 works, it'll give you a 2600+ for your efforts.

Here's a shot of your FSB overclocking possibilities. I suggest trying the 137, 143, & 147 options...a vcore increase may be necessary

Thank you all guys.
I think PCI 30Mhz must be the reason for my failure.. But although it's odd, this setting(150/150/30) is the only availiable for a 150FSB. There are lots of other settings both in Bios or Speedfan, but there is nothing else with 150FSB. Plus every time I tried to change the clock in Windows by Speedfan, my system froze.

You can't adjust in increments. In Bios there are some, but not so many, availiable choices. 137,142,150, and 166(Is this crazy or not!?!?). I think I'm going to try the 142.7/142.7/35.7 setting.

I improved my system a couple of months ago replacing my 256MB 266DDR memory stick with two sticks (256+512)MB 400DDR. I thought that I should try to take the best out of this memory cause a 133Mhz memory clock is very very low (133/166/33 seemed the best to me). But then I read that this mb doesn't perfom well im asychronous(SP) mode, so the only solution was raising FSB..

What about the Vcore? Something around 1.8Volts or even more? My temps are average I think ,CPU 43-47 (idle-f.load) in winter, 48-52 in summer (I have put a thermaltake 80mm cooler, adjustable speed). Once again thanks

The 142 setting looks like a possibility...vcore of about 1.700v, maybe a little more.

vcore on my 2400+ runs just fine a default speeds undervolted at 1.600v. Temp difference between 1.600v and 1.700v is about 10°C.

I'd stop at something like 1.725 or 1.750v.

No matter where you end up, keep the memory and fsb running at the same speed.

Woow, 10°C is quite a huge difference.. I changed FSB to 142 (through BIOS) and it looked stable, using default 1.65V setting. It recognised my CPU as an Athlon XP 2600+. I ran a programm I had made to do some calculations, (running about 1-2 hours at 100%, using average memeory ), and it worked fine.

I did some changes to the memory timings too (setting to fast mode etc), but it was a complete failure. It didn't boot.

I think I'm going to put it back to 133 though, because my temps are high (56°C full load) and CPU fan does a lot of noise..
