Need a lot more info than that. I don't know if you have an 1800MHz CPU & wanna overclock it to 2400MHz, or you have an 1800+ (1533MHz) & wanna overclock to 2400+ (2000MHz).

List your board make/model/chipset, RAM type & speed, exact CPU model...& if you can, list whether the CPU is a Palomino or Thoroughbred core.

Close, but no cigar.

What type/speed RAM do you have? PC2100, PC2700, or PC3200? Is your CPU a Palomino or TBred? Is the multiplier locked or unlocked?

For best performance, the CPU & RAM should run at the same bus speed so if you have PC2100, it will limit the overclocking potential. Also, a common "problem" with VIA based boards is that there's usually no way to lock the PCI/AGP buses, so that will limit the overclocking potential as well. The best you can hope for is increasing the FSB from 133MHz to 150MHz...anything between 150-165MHz will put the PCI/AGP too far out of spec & result in instability. So if the CPU multiplier is locked at 11.5x, the best you could do would probably be 1.725GHz (11.5 x 150MHz). But if you only have PC2100 RAM, chances are you'll never hit 150MHz at 1:1 CPU:DRAM ratio. However, if the CPU is unlocked & you have either PC2700 or PC3200 RAM, you *might* be able to run the CPU at 10 or 10.5 x 166MHz. A CPU voltage increase will most likely be required & there are several others settings that will need to be tweaked as well. It's all trial & error though...no one can guarantee what settings will work. All you can do is experiment.

The KT4V is a poor overclocker...trust me on this one.

About the best you can expect is to make a 2000+ out of your machine @ sbout 11.5 x 144Mhz.

As a side note, be careful of PC3200 memory choices on this board...it won't work with some brands.

Dude, based on what you just posted, you don't even have an 1800+ CPU. As for the core, "Model 8" means it's a Thoroughbred.

No Athlon XP has a default FSB speed of 100MHz & since your CPU speed is 1500MHz, it means the CPU multiplier is 15x. In other words, the FSB is set incorrectly so your CPU is running at the wrong speed...that's why it's being recognized as an 1800+.

It appears your CPU is actually a 2400+ which is supposed to run at 2000MHz (15 x 133MHz). Simply enter the BIOS & change the FSB setting from 100MHz (200FSB) to 133MHz (266FSB) & your CPU will run at the correct speed again.

Check your CPU & RAM settings using CPUZ:

I wrote the information above from special software like "Test My Hardware" "InfoView" and "WMlinfo" from MSI. But if i set the FSB from 100 Mhz to 133 my computer suddenly restarts, or i get the good ol' bluescereen of death.

Can i adjust the speed of the memory modules?Should it work if there are working on the same speed as my processor?

Did you run CPUZ yet? Click on the SPD tab & see what's listed on the Timings Table...use the Memory Slot Selection to check the Timings for each indivial stick. This will tell you the settings that are programmed into each stick.

If you click on the Memory tab, you'll see what your current RAM settings are. The CPU tab will provide all the model info about your CPU & the current CPU settings.

I think he's using the wrong utilities to identify his stuff jam.

He needs to follow your advice and post the results from cpuz...works perfectly on a KT4V. Other than some brands of PC3200 this board doesn't like, it simply downclocks to the slowest chip inserted in the motherboard.

Bottom line is that this board just ain't a decent overclocker...gotta live within the limitations of an older VIA chipset.

That confirms that your CPU is running at 15 x 100MHz when it should be running at 15 x 133MHz. You have a Thoroughbred-B with a default voltage of 1.65v.

Your RAM is all PC3200 (DDR400), but it's apparently running at 166MHz (DDR333) @ 2.5-3-3-?

The SPD timing tables are all different. The SuperTalent shows nothing for 133MHz (DDR266) & the Generic only shows timings for 200MHz (DDR400).

Now that you have all this info, you can try manually configuring the BIOS to match your hardware. I suggest that you temporarily remove the SuperTalent & Generic RAM & just work with the 512MB Kingston.

Try these settings:

Under Advanced Chipset Features/DRAM Timing -

- Configure SDRAM Timing by = USER
- SDRAM Frequency = 266MHz
- SDRAM CAS# Latency = 2.5
- Row Precharge Time = 3
- RAS Pulse Width = 7
- RAS to CAS Delay = 3
- Bank Interleave = DISABLED
- DDR DQS Input Delay = AUTO
- SDRAM Burst Length = 4QW
- SDRAM 1T Command = ENABLED
- Fast Command = FAST
- Fast R-2-R Turnaround = ENABLED

Under Advanced Chipset Features/AGP Timing Control -

- AGP Mode = AUTO
- AGP Fast Write = ENABLED
- AGP Aperture Size = 128MB
- AGP Master 1 W/S Write = DISABLED
- AGP Master 1 W/S Read = DISABLED
- AGP Read Synchronization = DISABLED
- PCI Delay Transaction = ENABLED

Under PNP/PCI Configurations -

- Plug and Play Aware O/S = NO
- Clear NVRAM = YES
- Primary Graphics Adaptor = AGP (I'm guessing you have an AGP video card?)

Under Frequency/Voltage Control -

- Spread Spectrum = DISABLED
- CPU FSB Clock = 133MHz
- CPU Ratio = AUTO or 15x
- CPU Vcore (V) = AUTO or 1.65v
- DDR Voltage (V) = AUTO
- Termination Vol (V) = AUTO
- Termination Vol (V) = AUTO

I agree with jam...that scenario will give you the best oc possible and eliminate several variables. Don't worry about the TbredB overheating and you might increase Vcore to 1.675 to help stability even at stock speeds...1.700 won't raise temps much either.

This sounds good, but i need to work with the SuperTalent and the other memory module. If i use these modules, the options are still the same what you just posted? The SuperTalent ram is not tested on my mainboard, but it boot's up perfectly and the Memtest didn't found any problems. I even took my computer to the store where i bought the newest ram (SuperTalent) and they said that it has no problems, and they installed it for me. In the first slot is the Kingston 512, in the second: SuperTalent 512mb. When my PC was sent to the store, the processor was working on 2400 (200 Mhz). They said if i remove the *noname* 256 module the computer will work fine after i reinstall windows. I reinstalled windows. But it always restarted. So i went to the Bios and put the FSB to default(100. Now it's working fine -without bluescreen and other stuff, but only with 200Mhz. I won't die until i'm not finished with this.
