I have a slotek SL-75DRV m/b
AMD Athlon 1.4GHz/c 266mhz/fsb
512Mg DDR
64Mg Geforce2 Mx40
10g Western Digital ATA-100 h/d
And unfortunately Im using onboard sound atm.
Average CPU Temp 49-55 Deg
Gets to 55deg when playing counterstike.I used the redstorm overclocker on my m/b, and it has taken it to 1.52Ghz which is resonably stable.
IS this just increasing my FSB not my multiplier ???
I do have the odd crash now & then, would that be becuse im using the onboard CRAP sound ??
Also I have two diff brands of RAM will that make a difference ??
1 stick has 7ns 1st & 2nd cycle
the other has 7ns 1st cycle 10ns 2nd cycle ?Any Advice would be appreciated
as I`d like to go wild with it,
Take it to it`s MAX
Also if any 1 can tell me how to use the cpu, chip, pci, agp skew adjust`s in the bios
You`d be a legend among persons!
(Must b politicaly correct now!)

By the way john
This forum is for ppl who are intrested in overclocking there systems,
And as such dont need to read useless replies such as yours.
Unless u have somthing constructive to say, DROP DEAD!

Your "odd crash now and again" may be due to the enormous ammounts of heat generated by your cpu. By the sound of things you really need to provide some extra cpu/Case cooling. Even O/C'd the cpu temp shouldn't be any more than 45c to keep it stable. Not sure about your memory tho', it would help to have identical memory fitted. Redstorm would be overclocking your FSB as the cpu is clock locked which means that if you're running your memory at a higher bus speed than it is rated for, then that would explain your crashes also. You need to do one or more of the following.
1) Improve CPU and Case cooling.
2) Buy some DDR memory that is suitable for overclocking i.e Crucial or Mushkin
3) Look into unlocking the multipier on the cpu, that way you are not increasing your FSB speed and killing your memory.Hope this helps.

Yer thanks drew,
Will look into unlocking the cpu
Also I forgot to mention im in queensland australia & the weather here has been at 40deg so the cpu is running a bit
hotter than norm,
NO Air/Con
:(

I would still love the skew adjusts explainded more though
Soltek & any other review only mention;
ooohh geee its got that, but no one tells ya any more ?? Ie: How they work?

I have pretty much the same computer As This person but i have a voodoo5 5500 it is way nicer im trying to overclock that and im not sure if it will hurt it or not and im also trying to overclock my amd 1.4 GHz
:)
