OS: XP pro sp1
CPU/Ram: athlon XP2100 / 512 DDR

My system:
Athlon 2100 @ 1.73Ghz( thoroughbred)
Aus A7N8X deluxe
2 x 256 MB DDR pc2700 ram (kingmax)
Leadtek 128Mb Gf4 4200Ti (A280 LE TDH)
400W PSU + case fan
-------------------
I've deiced to overclock the CPU. Its now detected in bios as XP2700+

set @ fsb166 x 13 = 2.158 Ghz
also I’ve increased the vcore from 1.6V to to 1.65V

I’m using the standard AMD fan + heatsink from the 2100, with antec arctic silver paste.

Currently the system runs idles @ 47C and 51C @ 100% load over several hours, it never crashed.

Can the 1.65V damage the CPU should i decrease the vcore to default 1.6V?
If not can a 1.75V damage the CPU? I’ve had it running at that for a while

Can the CPU get damaged if the temp is low ( 50C )?

Should i keep pushing the CPU higher by increasing the multipliers?

Is it worth overclocking the ram? I read A7N8X works best with fsb 333 and ram @ 333

Also is 256 pc2700 kingmax ram better than kingston?

Thank you in advance = )

checkout the amdforums for tons of info. I love the board - rock solid for me. I run the uber1002-sata bios.

Not sure if I got this right, but you are running your fsb at 166? if so, your ram is running at 333, which is right for pc2700. You can probably squeeze at least another 10MHz out of it too.

Also try coolbits or powerstrip to up your video card if you haven;t already.

Thanx Guyz.

I had a look the url the site was pretty good thanx abatis

I’ve now downclocked it to 2600XP, 12.5x166 = 2.075Ghz.

And i've o/c the 3d card already.

Runs good, ive put 2 more case fans into the pc. (I ripped them out from old, broken power supply units. Its like a wind tunnel now

CPU temp idle/max = 37 / 42 C

I got a huge fan from a 400W AT server PSU = )

At 1st the connections didn’t match, so I clipped the wires and connected them (yellow to red, black 2 black) to my power connections, taped em up using electrical tape. Works great and was free. Try it if u have old PSU’s lying arnd = )

Also ive read that the mobo performs faster when the fsb is in sync with the cpu speed. (ie fsb @ 333 and ram @ 333) . So I havn’t tried o/c’ing the ram yet.

Now im curios, I’ll o/c and benchmark it. 2 see if it makes a significant improvement.

Ive seen the same ram running at 180x2 mhz

should be fun
