Comment:

I just upgraded my computer with a new hd and noticed my mhz dropped from 166mhz to 150mhz. I went into setup and changed the clock to 450 mhz, just thinking the computer would not accept it. But when I powered on the alarm sounded and the screen shows grids large then small. Feeling really studid now, but does anyone know if I possibly fried the CPU or other components? Mobo is a SIS 530, older computer. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Well I found the jumper to clear the cmos, but it didn't work. I have a replacement cpu on the way, so I guess I'll play it by ear after that and hope that I didn't damage any other components. Thanks for the help.

probably not. your pc keeps trying to boot cpu at the speed u set. disconnect power supply sords from motherboard, hold on botton for 20 sec (to make sure no power left), take out a silver battery for 10min, put it back, plug everything in and your CPU will be fine

peace
